FAQs

  • ADDITIONAL GUEST TICKETS for the Sunday reception/buffet and the Monday dinner/ceilidh are available for £20 and £45 respectively.
  • ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION within walking distance of the venue includes the Royal Hotel, Bridge of Allan (bed and breakfast at around £72 per night) and Kilronan House, Bridge of Allan (bed and breakfast at around £45 per night).
  • GETTING HERE The usual array of car hire firms are available at both local airports, which are both approximately an hour’s drive from campus in usual traffic conditions. Parking will be available at Stirling Court and on campus for £5 per day but please consider using public transport if possible. From Glasgow Airport, take the express bus to Queen Street station (not Central) and the train to either Stirling or Bridge of Allan. From Edinburgh Airport, take the tram to Edinburgh Park (limited train service on Sundays) or the tram or express bus to Haymarket, then the train to either Stirling or Bridge of Allan. If you then want to get a bus or a taxi to campus, get off at Stirling station. Taxis are immediately outside and buses UniLink, 20 and 54 go from the bus station (two minutes’ walk away but there is a reduced service on Sundays). If you want to walk, get off at Bridge of Allan and allow 45 minutes. There are buses from Bridge of Allan but they are infrequent, especially on a Sunday. Local taxi firms include Goosecroft Taxis (01786 472220), Dunblane Taxis (01786 818156) and Stirling Taxis (01786 816236). Advance booking will be necessary, they will not be able to accommodate short-notice requests.
  • FITNESS FACILITIES The University’s extensive sport and recreation facilities, including the tennis and squash courts, swimming pool and gymnasium, will be available to delegates. There is a 1.5 mile running track around the loch, the walk to the top of Dumyat Hill and back takes about three hours but you will need proper walking boots. We hope that table tennis will be available at the conference venue.
